Wow…just so you guys know, from this email I received (pasted below), I’m wondering about my home page? I thought this was spam until I realized this woman (Hilarie Goldstein) was referring to the photo on my front home page. The photo is of a model posing …does it bother any of you? Its NOT me in the photo and theres NO outright nudity. My intent was for artistic symbolism, to portray how I feel when I write here (exposed but still safely hidden from a distance). This email REALLY caught me off guard. Any comments or advice??

You’re an exhibitionist. Why are you posing naked on the home page? You’re like these guys who work for child abuse org’s and end up molesting boys. You don’t know what side your bread is buttered on, do you? You don’t know where you end and the internalized perpetrator begins, do you? Why don’t you just go away. There is enough confusion in this world.

In our opinion, if this is from a real person and they are serious, they are in need of some serious help! There is absolutely nothing offensive about that picture in our opinion. To make the comparisons they made is ludicrous. They say it takes all kinds but I wonder why?

Hmmm. There’s nothing remotely erotic about that photo. I think your commenter is rather scarily confusing a kind of affirmation of one’s own vulnerability with a desire to titillate (which is what exhibitionists are after).
That said, the Goddess knows molesters and abusers love to believe the people they hurt really “want it,” and maybe that is the message they’d read into that photo.
Telling you to “go away” is WAAAAAY out of line on YOUR home page, though, and I don’t really care what her reasoning is.

there is NOTHING wrong with the photo on the front page. it is artistic and to me, it means that you are bearing your soul on this site/journal, being naked with your insides.

I just now ran across your web page. What stopped me is the journey of your survival. One I am on myself. I saw the photo, and totally don’t know what that commenter meant. It scares me what others think with their twisted minds. And why do they feel the need to turn it around on someone else. I agree with Rosemarie in that the ‘go away’ comment is nuts and on YOUR page. It reminds me of family members that I have, sadly, family members, not strangers. They don’t understand so THEY attack, senseless. I know this was all from last month, but it bothered me so much that I had to make comment and be sure to express that you sharing as much of yourself as you do is incredible. For those of us with the same issues, it’s admirable. Thanks so much for sharing yourself.
